Biography
Ashley Barrett lives and works in Atlanta, GA where she is currently looking for an internship or full time job at an animation studio. She received a BFA with a focus in Drawing Painting and Printmaking from Georgia State University in 2011. She was selected to exhibit for the Atlanta Printmakers Studio and has displayed her paintings and work with galleries in and around Atlanta.

About Me
My artistic enlightenment began with my middle school art teacher. She furiously ate gummy bears and claimed to the class that, “it was the only way she could deal with us”. After waiting for an hour for her help one morning she spent 5 minutes erasing my entire drawing just to tell me that I needed to learn to “see”. That was probably a little heavy for a 12 year old but I think that’s all I’ve been trying to do since then. I didn’t think about being a professional artist again until my second year of pursing a Biology major. Sitting in our small urban quad, I decided that I wanted to be one of those students walking by me carrying a gigantic portfolio filled with art. That day I filled out the paper work and I’ve never looked back. Since then, I’ve studied animation at SCAD, painted in France through University of West Georgia, and graduated with a degree in Painting, and Printmaking from Georgia State University.
Everything I do is done with the same vigor and passion, whether I’m knitting wildly, painting with the slight craze of an artist who has been around too many fumes, or spending a few too many days in the animation studio with a dull pencil sharpener and too many circles under my eyes. Sometimes I even pretend to be a web designer! I feel like one art feeds another and I just can’t learn enough. I want to do it all. Since this obsession began with a passion for drawing people I’ve always had the dream of being an animator. That’s my next journey, and it’s going to be a big one.
